Northern Resonance’s passion is the art of resonance. The grand resonating soundscape is created by their previously untested combination of instruments; viola d’amore, hardanger fiddle and nyckelharpa. With resonating strings as their common denominator, they let traditional Scandinavian music, such as polskas, waltzes and marches, meet explosive rhythms, grand chamber-like arrangements and fine free improvisation.

“It pulsates with the feeling of home as well as a desire to discover new land.” - Lira Music Magazine

All members are highly skilled and accomplished players, with deep roots in traditional music. With an intense musical connection that is rare to come across, they invite you into their world of compositions, for an exciting and energetic musical journey.

“With several beautifully crafted and decorated instruments on stage, this band is a visual treat as well as a feast for the ears. I strongly recommend seeing their performances, in addition to hearing their album." - FolkWorld Magazine

In 2020, they released their debut album, which was nominated for a Swedish Grammy Award. During the autumn of 2021, Northern Resonance are going on two tours, with support from The National Organisation for Folk Music and Dance (RFoD), Swedish Performing Arts Agency and Swedish Arts Council.

Northern Resonance are currently writing new material for their second album which will be recorded during 2022. They also received a scholarship from The Royal Swedish Academy of Music that will provide them with creative coaching from two of the best folk music composers in Sweden.

“It’s amazing to be in the resonating soundscape that is created through Northern Resonance. The sound is grand and sonorous, and the core is heartfelt and comes from the joy of creating and playing music together. This is what we want to communicate to our audience regardless if it’s on the dancefloor, in the big venues, at festivals and on the small and intimate concerts. “ - Anna, Petrus & Jerker (Northern Resonance)
