Trac Cymru is Wales' Folk Development organisation; its role to promote and develop the music and dance traditions of Wales - both within Wales and beyond. Trac Cymru came about through a shared belief in the unique qualities of traditional cultures, an awareness of their continuing relevance to the present, and a passion for sharing what music traditions have to offer. Over the last 20 years over 187,000 people have attended our events and training sessions. We were part of the WOMEX 13 support network for WOMEX's edition in Cardiff. We've supported artists and managers to attend and develop business at trade events over ten years and are part of the team that brought Wale as International Partner to English Folk Expo in 2018 and Showcase Scotland digitally in 2022 and in person in 2023.
In partnership with Tŷ Cerdd and FOCUS Wales we launched #WelshMusicAbroad to bring a strategic focus to Wales international presence and are active in the European Folk Network and the wider engagement around indigenous musics.
Get in touch to set up a meeting if you would like information on Wales' own music, instruments and artists.
We provide an information service and a website listing performers, events and contacts, as well as project and training work with performers both professional and amateur.
