Journalists play a vital role in the dissemination of music and in keeping the important discourse on this art form alive. WOMEX acknowledges this by offering a reduced rate to media professionals, subject to approval.
If you are a delegate who will attend WOMEX first and foremost in your role as a journalist or as a professional involved in the editorial work of a music media company, you are invited to register for our special Media Rate. Complete the delegate registration as normal, check the "Media registration" box when you are entering your personal delegate data – about half way through the registration process – and send a copy of your press credentials to media@womex.com. After confirmation from our communications department, you will be granted the discounted Media Rate registration price.
Delegate registration encompasses all five days of the event, and single day tickets are not available. Entrance to the WOMEX Trade Fair, Conference, Films, Opening and Award ceremony is reserved for WOMEX delegates who have registered for the full five-day event.
However, if you are not a WOMEX delegate or want to bring someone who is not a WOMEX delegate, you can purchase public tickets from the limited number of tickets available for the general public including nighttime concerts and films. WOMEX is committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable to fully participate and enjoy the event to the fullest.
Visit our dedicated Accessibility page for all event and venue-specific details.WOMEX works towards building a community, event and space that is diverse, inclusive, respectful and sensitive towards the diverse cultures and subcultures the WOMEX community is rooted in, as well as towards different forms of discrimination that may affect participants. We acknowledge that discrimination – on individual, structural and institutional levels – can happen anytime, anywhere.
The basis for dealing with different forms of discrimination is our WOMEX Code of Conduct: WOMEX does not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, sexism, or racism towards or among its members, be it based on age, religion, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, physical or mental abilities, appearance, nationality, community, peoples, ethnicity, beliefs, or socioeconomic status. All participants are expected to conform to our Code of Conduct.
Therefore, WOMEX implements an awareness concept to proactively create safer spaces and support affected individuals, as well as to promote an atmosphere of sensitivity, understanding, mutual respect, and self-reflectivity. We provide a quiet space, support, and documentation mechanisms, taking action, when necessary, against any perpetrators, from interventions to bans, prioritising the needs and experiences of the affected person/s. Please be mindful of your own boundaries and those of others.
If you witness or experience any inappropriate behaviour, the awareness team in Tampere Hall (visible by their purple vests) as well as the WOMEX, bar and security staff in each venue can be contacted at any time during the event.
The awareness team can also be reached during day- and night-time activities by phone call +358449635244 or at the Awareness Info Point in the entrance area of Tampere Hall, close to the Check-In & Registration Counter.

This year in Tampere, we have partnered with the local organisation TAVATA ry.
The purpose of the association TAVATA ry is to improve responsibility and accessibility within the event industry and event environments, and to provide expert services, service concepts, as well as support and training to advance these goals. Our key values are solution-orientation, equality, inclusion, and strengthening of community.
The board of the association brings together strong expertise in event production and event safety (including safer space practices), marketing and communications, as well as linguistic accessibility and interaction. Our specialists’ fields include communication guidance, plain language, and digital accessibility.
